My Letter To Artie Wu

This is the letter I sent Artie Wu four days ago. No response. No reply.

Does anyone think this is unreasonable? Please post your comments!

Dear Artie -

There are really only three things that need to change with Mamasource's practices for me to stop blogging.

1. Stop harvesting people's address books! Which means you've got to stop asking for people's email passwords!

2. Provide an unsubscribe link in all of your email correspondence that really lets people opt-out of your list!

3. Change your email servers so that they are not configured like all the other spammers out there.

That's it. Really. Does this sound unreasonable?

Kate, I just wanted to let you know I contacted the EFF and they said that, while Artie is a suckbag of vomit, there's nothing specifically actionable they can sue him for with the address book hijacking. They did, however, point out that this blog is an excellent idea and that you should keep it up so that people know what a suckbag of vomit this guy is.

It is still my humble opinion that he is violation of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 to not provide an unsubscribe link that actually lets people opt-out!

And hijacking and phishing and all the rest is just plain lame.

Not to mention he has his email servers set up like all the other spammers out there.

HI,

Thanks for the information regarding Mamasource. I really appreciate it! I had no idea! I guess I won’t promote it anymore.

Thanks again!

If you've had your address book spammed, or spent a sleepless night worrying that you did, like I did, please post comments here. I got auto-messages from Mamasource (only realizing it was an auto message the second time) telling me the e-mails had already gone out to my address book.

I've written Artie Wu twice - no reply. And they sucked my time and peace of my with their creepy-ass business practices.
